My heart and prayer go out to those suffering in Haiti. In our Thursday Catalite prayer meeting, we prayed together for God's provision and comfort there. This scale of destruction caused by this natural force is way beyond our words. We could only be quiet and pray our hearts out for this suffering nation.

We all witness how a natural disaster can change a whole nation within a few minutes. Lives were lost, loved ones were separated instantly by rubbles and rocks, towns and cities were destroyed. Once again this brings me to face the fact that human beings are weak and fragile in the face of the natural disaster such as this earthquake. It also reminds me what Jesus said in Matthew 24 when his disciples asked him this question
3"Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
Jesus answered,
Mostly importantly, Jesus said very clearly that these signs are the just beginning of the end of age, a very different period of time:
In a natural birth process, the scale and frequency of contraction are only getting higher and faster up until the time of birth. Here Jesus is using this natural example to teach us how to read and be alert if we start to see such things taking place. Recent pictures of wars, famine, earthquake are like film strips flashing in front of our eyes in the past 10 more years. Are we in the end time? This is a question you and I need to ponder and answer individually before the Lord.
Jesus continued to say that the persecution to true believers will surely accompany these signs at the end time!!
As Christians, how can we live in such a special period of time? Maybe you and I are thinking this is only the beginning. However, our next generation will surely be one step closer to what Jesus said here!!
How can we face such a period of time and season that lays in front of us: we and our sons, daughters? Especially how can we prepare our next generation to face such an environment? In Matthew 24, Jesus continued to teach us these three foundations that are needed to be solidly built before the end time comes:
-Growing in the love of God and for each other
12.... the love of most will grow cold,
It is time for us to come back to the simple relation in the Agape love of Christ, not things more, not things less. Our lives will be rooted in the Love of Christ again, not depending on those superficial things in the world. Through his unconditional love we can love our spouse, children and loved ones with the words and actions that unit instead of divide us, cherish instead of hurting each other.
Time to back to the simple basics of life!! Simply enjoy each other's company. Look right into our children's eyes to have quality time.
- Stand on the truth of God
13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved
Stand firm by studying, learning and meditating on God's word. Truth will set us free, not complying, compromising and complaining!! It is time to teach our next generation the truth word of God, not our water-down or pump-up version, take them directly to the word and allow them to be transformed directly by the fire and power within the living word of God!!
-Cease the hour to get the good news out to the hurting world
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
No other time in history does it require us more to be the light of the world. We will bring oil and wine to the wounded and hurt. And it is not only limited within the circle of our comfort zone: it will be delivered to the nations, the end of the world!!
I pray sincerely that you and I read Matthew 24 and reflect on what it says this week. I trust the Lord will speak to you and most importantly, we can move when he asks us to move forward!! Time is too precious to stay put without doing anything.
