A House that Changed the Nation

Best Education, err, in this Log Home? Anybody?

“Give our next generation the best education” has been a motto and motivation for a lot of us. Let me start with some of the best named educational institutions in US, such as Princeton, Brown, Dartmouth Universities, yes, Ivy league universities. And the list goes on for a total of 65 colleges in US. All of them can find their root in this humble home. This log home, an artist rendered version, was sitting in a village called Nashaminy, Bucks County PA.

Don’t be surprised yet. This home, later called Log College, was founded by a Pastor, who resigned from a big denomination and was, according to his own word, “poor as a church mouse”. He started from his own rental house (something I can identify with now) and then moved into this log house in 1726. He gathered settlers together to meet in someone’s house during winter and a barn during summer.

Against all odd according to today’s PC (Political Correctness), this College was founded to train revivalists, yes, crazy, zealous, God-fearing preachers. It was his aim to fashion “living epistles” whose hearts were “written… with the Spirit of the living God” (II Corinthian 3:3). His mission can be summered up in the word of W. B. Yeats: “ Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire”

Here are the report card of graduates from the College of New Jersey, which is now Princeton University but can trace its roots to Log College, you can find more info here http://tigernet.princeton.edu/~ptoniana/logcollege.asp :

-114 student who became ministers

-13 became US Congressmen

-20 became US Senators

-3 became Supreme Court Justice

-1 became US vice president (Aaron Burr, Jr.)

-1 became the father of the US constitution and later US president (James Madison)

Very impressive.

This visionary’s name is William Tennat.

Revival, err, in this Log Home? Anybody?

If one generation begins to declines, the next that follows usually grows worse, and so on, till God pours out his Spirit again upon them” - Samuel Willard (1640-1707) Vice President of Harvard

This words are very true, especially for this generation. Youth in America in particular. I have seen revivals here in US. But I am looking forward seeing this kind of revival that can last from generations to generations. Log College did just that. The missing link is to have the revival starting at your and my homes, so our next generation can see what God is doing in our homes. God’s next target is to pour His Spirit upon our houses, where they can turn into the most powerful “churches”, a called-out assembly of His army for the end time harvest.

Mr. Tennet started with his three eldest sons in his living room, training them every morning and evening, around his kitchen table for ministry. Later on, the alumina from Log College went out and participated in the first great spiritual awakening. The report card (the fruit):

- Spiritual: Thousand of people experience New life in Christ in the revival

- Educational: they propagated American-born education through the founding of such colleges and universities as Princeton, Pennsylvania, Rutgers, Brown and Dartmouth

- Social: They cultivated religious freedom and tolerance, which helped dissolve barriers between denominations, communities and classes

- Political: They helped release the colonies from the inordinate hold of England’s mother church, and thus made the political break inevitable

- Mission: They greatly increased mission word among the Indians

- Humanity: they increase the value of the common man

This is the type of revival, I believe, that our Lord is working on at this moment: brining up hundreds of thousands of homes that will be brought under His and anointing to teach His Words and Ways, to allow the Spirit of Living God work among us, to prepare for the spotless and blameless Bride , His church, for His second coming.

Agape House: a home church that will train the revivalist for Today

Now I started to understand a tiny bit of this big picture what the Lord is doing. Hsioawei, Zach and I needed to move back to Princeton campus, as clearly instructed by Him, which we did not understand the importance until we found the root of Princeton U. Now we are living in the basement of a dental office, with 15 parking lots instead of a 3000-sqt, water-front house in Albany. And I have to resigned from a church to start something that seems to be small. And really, it did not make sense to me at all at the beginning, but we obeyed His Voice and call any way. Now, I start to understand. But only a tiny bit.......

But, “For who has despised the day of small things?” (Zechariah 4:10). My sincere pray is that you and your family can also listen and heed to His voice and call. Bring this revival to your house!!
